• Gained fame after friend Ethan Hawke gave Ben Stiller a tape of her song "Stay (I Missed You)." Stiller added it to the soundtrack of his 1994 Gen-X movie, Reality Bites.

• With "Stay (I Missed You)," she became the first unsigned artist in history to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

• Released an album of children's music in 2003 called Catch the Moon, which she recorded with her college music partner, Elizabeth Mitchell.

• Hosted a 2004 cooking-variety series with then-boyfriend Dweezil Zappa called Dweezil and Lisa.

• Searched for love on reality TV on #1 Single, a program that aired on E! in 2006 and focused on her romantic life; the show did not lead to a long-term romance for her.
